For the second consecutive year we are very happy to cooperate with Operation Smile as our charity partner of choice for the Genghis Khan Festival. The people at Operation Smile are simply doing fantastic and necessary work here in China, and everyone is kindly encouraged to consider the needs of all the children with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities in the underserved regions of China. In fact, why not join the Operation Smile running team for the Grassland Marathon?
Last year, Operation Smile travelled to the Xiwuqi grasslands with a team of 30 runners. Together they raised nearly 100,000RMB providing 20 children in some of China’s poorest regions with life-changing surgery. In 2012, Operation Smile’s volunteer medical teams conducted 21 missions throughout the country, from Xinjiang to Yunnan and from Shandong to Inner Mongolia. During those missions more than 1,100 free surgeries and 1,500 free medical evaluations were completed. They have slated 19 missions in China this year, hoping to reach and treat those most in need. Everyone’s contribution is highly appreciated. The cost of one smile, one life-changing surgery, amounts to 5000rmb.
As last year, people can donate directly when they register online for the Genghis Khan Festival. 100% of donations go to Operation Smile’s programs in China. Additionally, Operation Smile has established a fundraising page on Simply Giving that will easily allow runners to raise funds for the cause via their own from family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. Simply Giving is a web portal which provides significant added value to sporting events or your personal challenges across Asia.
.
By raising funds or donating as of 1000rmb also YOU can be a part of the Operation Smile Team at this year’s Genghis Khan Festival! By raising enough funds to provide one ‘smile’ to a child (5,000 RMB), you can be a Premium Operation Smile Team Member and receive a special gift. Go to the Simply Giving portal and raise awareness!
